About the position

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking graduate students for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) WIRED Program, aimed at enhancing research engagement and diversity among students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). This program offers students the opportunity to work on national security challenges, applying cutting-edge research to enhance the safety and security of the nation. The positions are primarily located in Richland, WA, with some opportunities for remote work, and are scheduled for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in research-based experiences related to national security, energy, or science.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and program specialists to tackle complex national security problems.
  • Design, define, and operationalize technologies and approaches to respond to national security challenges.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Pursuing graduate degrees at an MSI in analytics, biology/chemistry, concept and application evaluation, cyber/computer science, or engineering.
