About the position

The Master's-level Education Analyst at RTI's Center for Education Evaluation and Research (CEER) is responsible for supporting the design and execution of research and evaluation projects in education. This role involves quantitative data analysis, creating analysis plans, and collaborating with education research staff. The analyst will manage complex datasets, perform statistical analyses, and contribute to reports and scientific papers, all while demonstrating a commitment to equity and social justice.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to descriptive reports, analysis reports, and research applications by writing sections and preparing tables, figures, or other supplementary material.
  • Manage complex datasets (e.g., district or institution administrative records, large-scale survey data, classroom observation data, etc.).
  • Build, organize, prepare, and maintain datasets for analysis.
  • Lead data cleaning and analysis using a broad range of analytic methods.
  • Perform moderately complex statistical analyses and quality checks on datasets, statistical tables, and reports.
  • Support multiple research projects and provide statistical consultation for supervisors and other staff.
  • Contribute to evaluation and research design.
  • Interpret, synthesize, and summarize information, including qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Contribute to writing reports, briefs, proposals, and scientific papers.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and orally with internal and external clients or business contacts.
  • Contribute to proposals and business development.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, economics, sociology, developmental psychology, public policy, quantitative psychology, demography/population studies, or other related field, or a bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Proactive, resourceful, highly organized, and able to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write clearly for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work on complex, multifaceted projects under deadlines, both on a team and independently.
  • Proficiency with Stata, Python, SQL, or R.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and report complex data using appropriate methods (e.g., factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple linear regression, logistic regression).
  • Ability to clean, organize, document, and manage datasets and variables.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced statistical and/or psychometric methods (e.g., fixed effects, structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear modeling, survival analysis, item response theory).
  • Knowledge and/or experience with experimental and quasi-experimental designs such as randomized controlled trials, regression discontinuity, and propensity score matching.
  • Experience managing and using public-use federal datasets such as American Community Survey (ACS), Current Population Survey (CPS), National Survey of College Graduates (NSCG), Survey of Doctorate Recipients (SDR), IPEDS, and Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD).
