About the position

The Material Control Operator is responsible for managing, moving, and tracking inventory within a warehouse or manufacturing setting. This role is crucial for maintaining efficiency and accuracy in material handling to support production and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule the material demand plan and issue material purchase requisitions to meet production requirements according to the shipping plan and order demand.
  • Control inventory to meet order demand and reasonable safety levels.
  • Monitor material shipment status and coordinate with other functional organizations to ensure on-time delivery, cost expectations, and inventory targets.
  • Regularly check and monitor warehouse materials, promptly resolve production material shortages and obsolete stocks, and take preventive actions to avoid shortages and obsolete stocks.
  • Accurately document inventory movements and transactions in the system.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse storage areas to optimize space utilization.
  • Prepare and deliver materials to production lines as scheduled or requested.
  • Effectively conduct material receiving, issuing, and cycle counts.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues related to inventory.
  • Ensure all materials are stored safely and comply with company standards and safety regulations.
  • Report damaged or defective items to management for proper handling.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or above and relevant experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or inventory management preferred.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficient in office software (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Highly motivated, adaptable to shift work, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Forklift and Electric Pallet Jack Certification preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment; certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed (up to 50 lbs).

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift and Electric Pallet Jack Certification preferred.
