About the position
The Material Coordinator at Tecomet, Inc. serves as a crucial link between the production floor and the material cage, ensuring that raw materials are accurately issued and delivered according to the production schedule. This role involves overseeing cycle-counting, resolving discrepancies in material inventory, and maintaining communication with accounting to ensure proper documentation of materials received. The coordinator is responsible for meeting production standards related to safety, quality, and cost while providing leadership and support to the material cage employees.
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between the production floor and the material cage.
- Oversee cycle-counting and reconcile issues with overages and shortages of raw material.
- Ensure raw material is issued to the correct jobs and delivered to the floor according to the production schedule.
- Track attendance for material cage employees.
- Perform all duties of a material clerk.
- Resolve issues with receipt and issuing of stock.
- Work closely with accounting to ensure all incoming products and materials are received and entered into the computer system.
- Assist the production floor with scheduling material to production jobs.
Requirements
- One year certificate from a college or technical school.
- One year experience in material handling or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to give full attention to what others are saying and understand points being made.
- High rate of accuracy in work.
- Ability to provide leadership through example and sharing of knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating manuals.
- Problem-solving skills in practical situations with limited standardization.
- Proficient with the manufacturing software system (Vantage).
- Certified forklift operator.
- Ability to comply with all safety policies and report unsafe activities.
