About the position

The Material Distribution Clerk II position at the University of Texas at Austin involves assisting in the efficient handling of incoming and outgoing mail and materials. This role supports the Material Clerk I's and Senior Material Distribution Clerks by ensuring timely processing, sorting, and distribution of mail, while also maintaining stock records and providing clerical support. The position is crucial for enhancing the operational efficiency of the Document Solutions department, which offers a variety of printing and mailing services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mail preparation for the Post Office and in accordance with postal regulations.
  • Operate postage meters.
  • Assist in the collection, processing, and distribution of mail, including hand work and special projects for bulk mail.
  • Assist assigned personnel in preparing and/or operating addressing/inserting equipment.
  • Supervise and assist with the preparation of outgoing shipments.
  • Provide clerical skills in receiving materials and other supplies.
  • Check, sort, and issue supplies, maintaining stock records and preparing shipping records.
  • Report any damages or shortages of materials.
  • Make minor repairs to equipment as needed.
  • Operate a university vehicle for pickups/deliveries on predetermined schedules and routes.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Six months of work experience.
  • Familiarity with office and postal equipment, stock handling, and maintaining records.
  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive direction, cooperate with supervisors, co-workers, and work independently.
  • Texas Class C Driver's License.
