About the position

The Material Handler 2 position at International Paper involves managing the flow of materials throughout the plant, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including the ability to work overtime and various shifts. The Material Handler will be responsible for operating equipment, maintaining safety standards, and contributing to a team-oriented environment focused on quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and maintain the flow of materials throughout the plant
  • Complete daily pre-start forklift maintenance inspection report (or VCR)
  • Complete and submit load sheet to accurately record bale count, loading start/stop times for finished goods on outbound shipments
  • Follow proper trailer loading and unloading lock-out/tag out procedure
  • Assist with sorting, deboxing and moving pallets/materials on the plant floor
  • Assist with removing finished bales and storing them in proper location
  • Load and unload trailers
  • Complete PMs for all certified mobile equipment regularly
  • Attend and participate in plant safety meetings
  • Manage controllable costs through proper equipment, tool and consumable usage
  • Report any safety or maintenance concerns
  • Adhere to plant policies and guidelines
  • Other duties may be assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (if needed)
  • Alertness, visual ability, and concern for quality
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to operate/monitor equipment such as Forklift, Skid Steer, Electronic Pallet Jack, Hand Truck
