About the position

The Material Handler 2 position at MTU Onsite Energy in Mankato, MN, is a critical role within the Logistics and Materials Management functional area. This position is responsible for verifying and maintaining records on incoming and outgoing products and shipments, ensuring that all materials are prepared for shipment in accordance with company requirements. The Material Handler will also maintain stockroom inventory, load and unload trucks, and perform various material handling functions including picking, cycle counting, and operating forklifts. In this role, the Material Handler will prepare and supply materials to assembly lines, compare and identify information on incoming and outgoing shipments, and verify this information against bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, or other records. Problem-solving skills are essential, as the Material Handler will need to resolve minor issues independently and participate in continuous improvement actions. The position requires unpacking, examining, and routing incoming shipments, as well as reporting defective materials to the appropriate personnel. The Material Handler will utilize radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment to complete material moves, ship completed products, conduct inventory cycle counts, and trigger material replenishment to the assembly line. Following ERP procedures and the company's quality system is crucial, as is maintaining inventory stock levels and reporting any issues. Safety and environmental procedures must be adhered to, promoting a compliance culture in line with the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct. The role may also involve performing special projects as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and supply material to assembly lines according to company requirements.
  • Compare and identify information and counts on incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Verify information against bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, or other records.
  • Resolve minor issues independently and participate in continuous improvement actions.
  • Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments.
  • Report defective materials to the proper personnel.
  • Post information into the computer system.
  • Move material between storage locations, including shipping and receiving docks.
  • Utilize RF scanning equipment to complete material moves and conduct inventory cycle counts.
  • Align components for assembly using appropriate equipment.
  • Follow ERP procedures and the company's quality system.
  • Maintain inventory stock levels and report issues with inventory stock levels.
  • Follow safety and environmental procedures.

Requirements

  • 3 years experience in shipping and receiving or material handling.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, overhead crane, and other various equipment.
  • Ability to multi-task while working with time-sensitive processes.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Good PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate computer terminals and RF scanning devices.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate power vehicle license (CDL, Flatbed, Hi-Lo, tugger & Mule) when necessary.
