About the position

The Material Handler Associate will primarily work in a production and warehousing environment, responsible for operating heavy equipment to move, store, and retrieve donated products. This role emphasizes excellent customer service, requiring interaction with customers and adherence to Goodwill's material handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as compactor, baler, hand dolly, and pallet jack to move, store, and retrieve products.
• Sort recyclable materials into proper bins.
• Ensure sufficient materials are available in production areas.
• Prepare items for store rotations and recycling procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Ensure recycle materials and trash bins do not overflow.
• Complete duties in accordance with organizational policies to minimize downtime.
• Help provide a safe working environment for customers and employees.
• Cross-train in other departments and act as backup as required.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Previous warehouse material sorting and production experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to operate a baler and other equipment safely.
• Ability to follow outlet and warehousing processes and guidelines.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs unassisted and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Effective communication skills with customers and team members.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a Goodwill Outlet/Warehouse Associate or equivalent Goodwill Retail position.
