About the position

The Material Handler in the Saw Department at Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI) is responsible for supplying workstations with necessary materials, managing raw material storage, and ensuring efficient material handling processes. This role requires basic computer skills and the ability to read orders and reports, along with operating various equipment such as forklifts and cranes to move materials safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supply each workstation with appropriate work materials by reading work orders or following verbal instructions.
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, trucks, racks, and shelves using hoists, cranes, or forklifts.
• Maintain proper workplace organization by storing components and products without transit damage.
• Operate a saw for cutting tubes, shafts, and key stock when not engaged in material handling tasks.
• Perform daily maintenance checks for the forklift/payloader and report any non-routine repairs.
• Use and understand various paperwork/reports, including schedules, prints, and NetLink.
• Participate in additional training related to the job and perform extra assignments as needed.

Requirements

• Prior experience in production and/or manufacturing or as a QA technician preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak to understand and relay important safety and quality information.
• Capable of safely and efficiently operating a forklift and other mechanical devices.
• Ability to work well with others and maintain excellent interdepartmental relationships.
• Must be reliable and able to take initiative and work independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with basic computer skills and understanding of inventory management systems.
