About the position

The Material Handler position at BW Integrated Systems involves receiving, identifying, storing, and delivering a variety of raw materials and manufactured parts for processing, assembly, or shipment. The role requires effective communication and teamwork to maintain inventory accuracy and ensure the proper handling of materials, including hazardous waste. The Material Handler will also participate in training and assist in maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, identify, issue, and store material/parts in established locations using appropriate identification methods.
  • Fill and distribute basic material and repair orders.
  • Label, pack, and load items for shipment according to specifications.
  • Unload incoming trucks, inspect for damage, and compare items and quantities received against freight bills.
  • Maintain records of all items received and shipped.
  • Perform cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and reconcile variances.
  • Detect defective materials and provide necessary documentation for corrective actions.
  • Operate materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move stock or organize storage.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining proper workflow and participate in training less experienced associates.
  • Generate and update standard work instructions/procedures and train others on proper procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings to communicate and resolve cost, quality, or production issues.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Experience in inventory management and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to material handling and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with packaging and shipping processes.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management.
