About the position

The Material Management Specialist plays a crucial role in the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) by managing the assembly, repair, delivery, and installation of equipment and supplies. This position involves overseeing the logistics of mail and document services, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the proper functioning of agency vehicles. The specialist is also responsible for supporting emergency operations and assisting with office relocations, making it a vital role in ensuring efficient operations within the agency.

Responsibilities

• Drive state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pick up large items such as furniture and equipment.
• Perform shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse and regional mailroom, including inspecting packages and documenting receipts.
• Conduct standard warehouse duties, including inventory management and operating motorized equipment for moving items.
• Assemble and install furniture and equipment for HHS customers, and perform minor building repairs.
• Serve on the Regional Disaster Deployment Team, delivering and setting up emergency equipment.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.
• Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance.
• Experience in shipping, receiving, sorting, and distributing supplies or equipment is preferred.
• Ability to lift, pull, push, and/or carry 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred experience in operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Preferred experience driving panel trucks and/or cargo vans.
• Preferred experience pulling trailers.
