About the position

The Material Planner at Cal Chef Foods, LLC is responsible for managing raw material and packaging inventory to ensure consistent material availability aligned with factory production schedules. This role involves managing supplier relationships, utilizing ERP systems for purchase orders, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives while coordinating with various internal departments and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain purchase orders for direct sourced raw materials and packaging using MRP/SAP systems.
  • Work with suppliers daily to manage Supplier Delivery Performance KPIs, ensuring proactive follow-ups on delivery dates and quantities.
  • Support factory operations and production teams in mitigating supply issues and managing inventory replenishment.
  • Communicate daily issues with factory production teams and category buyers regarding specification changes and late deliveries.
  • Manage Supplier Lead Times, MOQs, and Transit times effectively.
  • Organize the internal flow of materials within the manufacturing unit and manage transfers to and from inventory.
  • Expedite raw materials and packaging materials from approved suppliers as needed, considering cost and value.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance quality, lead-time, and reduce costs.
  • Apply decision-making and problem-solving skills to analyze situations and reach productive decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or similar.
  • 1-2 years of experience in material planning, scheduling, or inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, specifically SAP/MRP systems.
  • Strong communication and conflict management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in spreadsheets, especially Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in decision-making and critical thinking processes.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques for operational issues.
