About the position
Under the general direction of the Maintenance Support Manager (SSMI), the Material and Stores Specialist (M&S) is expected to develop the appropriate method necessary to independently complete ongoing responsibilities as well as a wide variety of special assignments. The M&S Specialist is responsible for receiving; shipping and purchasing; order filling; inventory and space management. Incumbent operates powered and nonpowered material handling equipment while maintaining a safe work environment. The successful candidate must adhere to ethical practices and policies, ensure best value for the State, and demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to providing quality service that is accurate, timely, and exceeds customers' expectations.
Responsibilities
- Develop methods to independently complete ongoing responsibilities and special assignments.
- Manage receiving, shipping, purchasing, order filling, inventory, and space management.
- Operate powered and nonpowered material handling equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Adhere to ethical practices and policies.
- Ensure best value for the State.
- Provide quality service that is accurate and timely.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
- Ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, bending, stooping, and standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to estimate future demands of various supplies based on past needs.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in the workplace.
- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports of work done.
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and take effective actions.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of warehouse management procedures involving usage, demand, and supply patterns.
- Ability to reason logically, analyze problems, and deal with multiple priorities.
