About the position
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for the procurement and preservation of both direct and indirect goods within the warehouse environment. This role involves receiving, handling, distributing, and storing materials, as well as preparing products for shipment using various material handling equipment and bar code scanning technology. The position requires a valid NYS driver's license and forklift certification, and it operates within a union environment with a structured schedule from 9:30 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
- Receive, handle, distribute, and store direct and indirect goods.
- Operate various pieces of Material Handling Equipment.
- Prepare products for shipment using bar code scanning equipment.
- Select and contact carriers for shipment, assigning them to specific staging lanes and dock doors.
- Prepare shipping documents, labeling, and package marking as required.
- Complete system-related information for international bills of lading and other paperwork.
- Ship products via various modes to domestic and international customers.
- Maintain and update files and records related to orders and shipments.
- Reconcile discrepancies with shipments and orders.
- Maintain 5S standards on a daily basis.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Forklift certification required.
- Experience with material handling equipment preferred.
- High level of reading ability.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and bar-coding equipment.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with bar code scanning technology.
- Ability to operate stand-up, walk-behind, or sit-down style forklifts.
