About the position

The Materials Data Scientist / Scientific Software Developer will be part of Enthought's Materials Informatics Team, focusing on enhancing research and development (R&D) processes for materials and chemical product researchers. This role involves developing data-driven models and AI-based decision-support tools, automating data analysis, and creating web-based software solutions. The position requires collaboration with client researchers and business leaders to solve complex problems and accelerate innovation in materials science.

Responsibilities

• Develop data-driven models and AI-based decision-support tools.
• Automate data analysis procedures.
• Create web-based software solutions involving GUIs, 2D and 3D graphics, and cloud computing.
• Collaborate with client researchers and business leaders to solve complex research and product development problems.
• Leverage proprietary and open-source tools to accelerate R&D innovation.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, solid state physics, or a related discipline.
• Ability to understand diverse materials and chemistry problems and implement data-driven software solutions.
• Experience with Python and common tools within the scientific and data science Python ecosystem.
• Strong work ethic and dedication to customer satisfaction.
• Passion for developing digital tools to accelerate materials and chemical product R&D.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience tackling diverse materials research problems from polymers to semiconductors to metals.
• Experience with both computational and experimental approaches.
• Excellent communication skills and teaching/mentoring experience.
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying Materials Informatics solutions in an academic or industrial setting.
