About the position

The Materials/Demand Planner will work within the Structures Supply Chain of an aerospace manufacturing company, focusing on accurately capturing material demand and maintaining visibility into supply sources. This role involves collaboration across various departments to drive material requirements planning and inform procurement strategies, ultimately supporting multiple vehicle missions and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sourcing/Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Integration, Test, and Launch organizations to derive material demand from complex multilevel Bill of Materials (BOMs) and schedules.
  • Generate material requirement signals and collaborate with Sourcing and Procurement personnel to develop material acquisition strategies.
  • Incorporate necessary data inputs to drive accurate material demand planning.
  • Manage the mission-by-mission 'Clear to Build' process, ensuring real-time visibility into material supply and demand.
  • Develop material allocation strategies/models for constrained or at-risk materials based on company priorities.
  • Quantify material forecasts to inform Sourcing's material acquisition strategies.
  • Participate in the development of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and processes within ERP to enhance planning operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain/operations management or equivalent experience.
  • 2-10 years in Material Planning, Demand Planning, or Fulfillment Planning in a fast-paced manufacturing, aerospace, or supply chain environment.
  • Experience with Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, LN, or Costpoint.
  • Understanding of MRP/SAP components related to materials and demand planning.
  • Ability to capture material demand and maintain real-time visibility into supply sources and levels.
  • Intermediate Excel skills for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders including engineering, manufacturing, and procurement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of reconciliation of BOM (Bill of Materials).
  • Experience with New Product Development (NPD) or New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Familiarity with data analysis applications/tools such as MS Excel, SQL, or Tableau.
  • Experience with design release processes and systems.
  • Background in aerospace or frontier technology industries.
