About the position

The Materials Engineer will play a critical role in the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast, focusing on the application of advanced methodologies and techniques to analyze material failures. This position involves leading investigations, preparing reports, and coordinating with various stakeholders to enhance air vehicle engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, conduct, and guide ISSC Jacksonville in the application of advanced methodologies and techniques for determining failure modes of materials.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead failure analysis investigations and research.
  • Serve as a recognized expert in failure analysis investigations, providing authoritative testing methodologies for in-service failures.
  • Prepare and review failure analysis reports, investigations, standards, guides, and instructions related to air vehicle engineering matters.
  • Coordinate technical work and liaise with high-ranking technical officials across NAVAIR, private industry, professional associations, and academia.
  • Plan, coordinate, and develop changes to material selection, manufacturing techniques, maintenance materials, and processes based on investigations of failed aircraft components.

Requirements

  • Expertise in failure analysis methodologies and techniques.
  • Experience in conducting and leading investigations related to material failures.
  • Strong technical writing skills for preparing and reviewing reports and standards.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including technical officials and industry professionals.
