About the position

The Materials Engineer at Wacker Polysilicon North America LLC is responsible for selecting and testing materials for various applications, ensuring their resistance to heat, corrosion, and chemical attacks. This role involves developing materials selection standards and corrosion management practices, collaborating with local engineering and maintenance teams to enhance asset integrity and performance. The engineer will also mentor regional teams and support project engineering efforts to ensure optimal material choices for new plants.

Responsibilities

  • Select the best materials for specific purposes and test them under various conditions.
  • Develop and implement corrosion maintenance programs and best practices in the region.
  • Provide expertise in sustainable materials selection and engineering concepts.
  • Guide and communicate regional Corrosion Management metrics and reporting systems.
  • Mentor regional engineers and maintenance teams on tools and best practices.
  • Assist local counterparts in data collection and analysis to track asset integrity.
  • Recommend and facilitate materials failure analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Develop tools to identify long-term mechanical issues and collaborate with plant engineers to resolve them.
  • Propose training programs for the Engineers Development program.
  • Oversee operational quality control processes for materials applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in materials selection and testing, particularly in a chemical processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of corrosion management and prevention techniques.
  • Ability to analyze data and track asset integrity effectively.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
