About the position

The Materials Handler Leader position at the Department of Veterans Affairs involves overseeing the Receiving/Distribution area of the Logistics Service. The role focuses on managing the receipt, storage, selection, and shipping of various materials and equipment, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Leads a crew to accomplish assigned projects and daily operational functions.
• Ensures awareness of trade techniques and practices.
• Demonstrates proper work methods and works alongside others.
• Provides staff with daily tasks and follows up to confirm completion.
• Checks work while in progress and upon completion.
• Discusses training requirements and issues with the supervisor.
• Assists in developing plans for storage and arrangement of stock.
• Advises workers on guidelines or special instructions to meet deadlines.
• Consolidates materials to maximize space utilization and protect materials.
• Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials.
• Serves as a senior member of the warehouse project team for special projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• May be required to serve a probationary period.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
• Selected applicants required to complete an online onboarding process.
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
• Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required for all Veterans Health Administration HCP.
