About the position

Hood Packaging Corporation, a world leader in the packaging industry, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Material/Inventory Control Manager to join our team at the Summerville, SC facility. This role is critical in ensuring that our production processes run smoothly by coordinating all raw material purchases and controlling inventories effectively. The Material/Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire purchasing process, with a focus on maximizing cost savings through strategic vendor negotiations and efficient inventory management. In this position, the successful candidate will order and expedite raw materials purchasing, monitor and control raw materials inventories, and forecast materials usage to align with production needs. The role also involves coordinating warehouse consignment levels with vendors and addressing new material requirements from both technical and plant staff. The Material/Inventory Control Manager will evaluate and recommend suppliers to department managers, ensuring that we maintain strong relationships with our vendors and stay informed about market supply and pricing trends. Additionally, the manager will support and assist with purchasing and receiving functions throughout the operation, including data management for scheduling purposes. Monthly raw materials reports and accruals will be completed for accounting, and the manager will monitor and report material supply and price trends to management as necessary. Implementing and coordinating purchasing procedures that align with corporate strategies is also a key responsibility of this role. The Material/Inventory Control Manager will perform miscellaneous duties for projects and events as requested, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Some post-secondary education and five (5) to seven (7) years' previous experience with purchasing/materials procurement and expediting
  • High School Diploma or GED and five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in purchasing/materials procurement and expediting
