About the position

The Materials Manager at Spectrum Control is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the Materials department, overseeing operations related to materials scheduling, customer service, shipping, receiving, distribution, purchasing, supply chain management, and production scheduling. This role involves implementing visual-based replenishment systems, driving inventory levels, and collaborating with commodity managers on strategic sourcing strategies to ensure efficient material flow and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate activities of the Materials department.
  • Oversee materials scheduling, customer service, shipping, receiving, distribution, purchasing, and production scheduling.
  • Implement visual-based replenishment systems and drive inventory levels based on SIOP.
  • Develop and maintain supply chain objectives aligned with corporate policies.
  • Create charts and graphical representations of material flow and KPIs to streamline workflow.
  • Plan and support MMP product for other sites within the organization.
  • Develop schedules related to budgets, forecasts, and customer orders.
  • Monitor delivery performance and ensure inventory optimization.
  • Establish and maintain planning-related parameters in ERP System.
  • Review supply/demand information to ensure material availability for production schedules.
  • Control and optimize inventories to meet defined levels and turns.
  • Improve methods and processes to increase productivity and quality while reducing costs.
  • Lead inventory right-sizing initiatives and contribute to SIOP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems and MRP in a production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory controls, logistics, and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including macros.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
  • Experience with import/export compliance.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in warehouse operations.
