About the position
The Materials Manager at GAC Van Nuys is responsible for overseeing inventory management and production control operations related to material functions. This role involves coordinating efforts to support both internal and external customers, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and managing costs associated with material handling. The position requires strong leadership skills to guide subordinate personnel and ensure that all materials are available for production in alignment with the master schedule.
Responsibilities
- Manage the company's inventory control, shipping, receiving, purchasing, planning, quality, and off-site functions.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations regarding parts handling, export licensing, and customs procedures.
- Control internal and external costs for all materials shipped to and from the company.
- Plan inventory and purchased part needs for timely disbursement to aircraft.
- Provide guidance and training to subordinate personnel to meet position requirements.
- Direct and prioritize receiving and shipping processes for company and customer assets.
- Collaborate with management for project planning, information gathering, and problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with quality improvement processes and track production schedules.
- Utilize Lean principles for continuous evaluation and improvement of processes and workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8 years of experience in material operations.
- 5 years of supervisory/management experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in the Aviation/Aerospace industry
- Experience in Supply Chain, Warehousing or Manufacturing
- Experience utilizing ERP software
- Experience in complex data analytics
- Ability to work under pressure
