About the position

The Materials Planner at American Battery Solutions is responsible for managing the flow of materials and ensuring that production schedules are met efficiently. This role involves utilizing MRP and ERP systems to maintain inventory accuracy, optimize production scheduling, and collaborate with suppliers and customers to address material shortages and lead time issues. The planner will also support new product introductions and work closely with various teams to enhance operational flexibility and reduce lead times throughout the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data to create and maintain planning reports and associated planning logic in the ERP system for assigned product families.
  • Ensure adequate materials are available to meet requirements based on the master production schedule and MRP calculations.
  • Work closely with customers and suppliers to solve shortage or short lead time requirements.
  • Responsible for optimum scheduling of production to meet demand and forecasting future needs.
  • Resolve internal and external problems and communicate effectively with customers and suppliers.
  • Support production operators in troubleshooting issues and day-to-day operations.
  • Build up the Procurement Program by dividing and leveling piece procurements.
  • Provide expertise in logistics areas of ordering, in-bound, and out-bound materials.
  • Cycle count materials to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure logistics conventions comply with purchasing objectives and supplier conditions.
  • Collaborate to plan work center capacity requirements based on customer order profiles.
  • Design, develop, validate, and implement methods and tools to improve operational flexibility and lean production systems.
  • Develop and implement solutions to reduce lead time throughout the value stream and supply chain.
  • Manage and troubleshoot discrepancies of supplied material with vendors and end users.
  • Ensure all communications are legally correct and reflect company policies.
  • Support new product introductions and engineering/revision changes.
  • Track and maintain supplier delivery performance.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Capacity Planning teams on product transitions to minimize E&O inventory and ramp up new platforms.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and adhere to regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, or related fields.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems, preferably PLEX ERP.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong technical, communication, customer service, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Must be a team player.
