About the position

The Materials Science Co-op/Intern position at Honda for Spring 2025 offers college students a hands-on, project-based experience in various departments related to materials science and metallurgical engineering. This role is designed for students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, contributing to real projects that support Honda's manufacturing processes. Interns will engage in meaningful work, participate in professional development events, and have the opportunity to network with high-level associates within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Support mass production with failure analysis.
  • Assist new model groups with new materials/processes qualification and specification testing.
  • Prepare samples for metallurgical evaluation, including cutting, grinding, and polishing.
  • Perform metallurgical testing such as metallographic, hardness testing, and tensile/compression testing.
  • Summarize test results in report form and present investigation results.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data to develop improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • General Business Coursework.
  • Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA or higher.
  • Class status: Sophomore (by credit hour) or above.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per week.
  • Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program studying Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Ability to secure own transportation to and from work each day.
