The Student Support Center is looking for dedicated and knowledgeable students to fill the role of Math Center Tutor. This part-time position is ideal for individuals who excel in mathematics and have a passion for helping others succeed academically. Tutors will be responsible for providing support in both 100 and 200 level math courses, ensuring that students receive the assistance they need to understand complex mathematical concepts. The role requires a commitment to maintaining a professional image of the institution while delivering high-quality tutoring services. Tutors will engage in individual and small group sessions, adapting their teaching methods to meet the diverse learning styles of their tutees. Additionally, maintaining confidentiality and accurate records of tutoring sessions is essential to uphold the integrity of the tutoring program. In this position, tutors will also be expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for students, staff, and faculty. The ability to multi-task effectively is crucial, as tutors may need to manage multiple students and their varying needs simultaneously. Responsibilities

  • Maintain world class customer service to students, staff, and faculty.
  • Provide individual and/or small group tutoring sessions.
  • Demonstrate high ability to multi-task.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Tutor students in the subjects approved by the institution.
  • Present a professional image of SC4.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Overall GPA of 3.3 or higher in math courses.
  • Achieved an 'A' or 'B' in all college-level math courses.
  • Knowledge of course content and ability to adapt tutoring to tutees' learning styles.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Punctual, responsible, and flexible.
  • High degree of social and communication skills.
  • Proof of degree.
