We are seeking individuals with a strong background in numerical analysis, mathematical software, numerical linear algebra, and/or statistics to join our team as testers for mathematical software. This position requires graduate-level work in these areas, ensuring that candidates possess a solid foundation in mathematics and statistics. The ideal candidate will have an MS/MA or higher degree in Mathematics or Statistics and will be proficient in one or more of the following areas, prioritized as follows: Computational and Applied Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, and Mathematical and/or Computational Statistics. In this role, you will assist in the development of test processes, design and implement test tools, and write and maintain both manual and automated test suites. You will also be involved in test planning and the design of test cases, utilizing both black-box and white-box testing methodologies. Your primary responsibilities will include creating and executing tests on mathematical functionality for assigned projects, providing periodic status reports on your progress, and effectively communicating any issues discovered during testing. This includes logging issues into a defect tracking database and discussing the testing strategy defined for the project or product. You will need to quickly adapt to changes that arise during project execution and multitask across multiple projects or products as needed. Supporting responsibilities include reviewing technical documents such as requirement specifications, architecture documents, and user documentation. You will assess the potential impact of requests for changes to the design or scope of the software under test from a testing standpoint. Utilizing appropriate tools, including automated test execution tools, code coverage tools, and test result evaluation tools, will be essential to aid your testing efforts. You will also be expected to learn new skills quickly to handle new assignments as they arise, follow project schedules, and complete assignments on time, producing appropriate deliverables for each task.
