About the position

The Math Teacher for grades 9-12 is responsible for delivering high-quality education to students, ensuring they master appropriate grade-level academic skills as outlined in state curriculum standards. The role involves preparing lesson plans, utilizing various teaching strategies, assessing student progress, and maintaining a conducive learning environment. The teacher will actively participate in professional development and collaborate with colleagues to enhance educational outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans for the principal's review that align with state curriculum standards.
  • Utilize data-driven, research-based teaching strategies to instruct students.
  • Analyze formal state assessment results to identify strengths and weaknesses in student performance.
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities at the school and system levels.
  • Assess students' comprehension and application of curriculum standards frequently.
  • Instruct students using various teaching methods, including lectures and demonstrations.
  • Prepare teaching outlines and assign lessons, correcting homework as needed.
  • Administer tests to evaluate student progress and communicate results to parents.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and discipline in the classroom.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops.
  • Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside of instructional hours.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
  • Represent the school and community positively.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsements.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet health and physical requirements as outlined.
