About the position

The Mathematics - Associate Instructor position at Cabrillo College is a part-time faculty role focused on teaching various mathematics courses to a diverse student population. The instructor will engage in participatory governance, maintain student records, and provide academic assistance, all while promoting an inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for candidates who are committed to enhancing the educational experience of students from varied backgrounds and who are passionate about mathematics education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned mathematics classes, which may include evening or off-campus assignments.
  • Engage in participatory governance committees and initiatives such as Guided Pathways.
  • Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress.
  • Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
  • Participate in District investigations and student grievance matters as required.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Complete required District trainings such as Title IX and EEO/Diversity.

Requirements

  • Master's in mathematics or applied mathematics, or
  • Bachelor's in mathematics or applied mathematics AND a Master's in statistics, physics, or mathematics education, or
  • Possess a lifetime California Community College Instructor credential in Mathematics.
