About the position
The Mathematics Faculty position at Sauk Valley Community College is a full-time, tenure-track role available starting Fall 2025. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching developmental math, statistics, and college-level math courses, while also participating in college-wide assessments and curriculum development. This position requires a commitment to the college's mission and philosophy, as well as active involvement in student learning and support.
Responsibilities
- Support and promote the philosophy and mission of the college.
- Participate in the college-wide process for assessing student learning.
- Regularly assess student learning in the classroom and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Review the need for courses, programs, and curriculum changes as part of strategic planning.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field of instruction.
- Care for the equipment and property under assigned jurisdiction.
- Prepare reports upon request and fulfill departmental responsibilities.
- Keep accurate grade logs and maintain student progress records.
- Notify the appropriate supervisor if regularly assigned duties cannot be performed.
- Attend all required meetings and maintain scheduled class hours.
- Develop annual goals for the instructional area in consultation with the supervisor.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics.
- Experience in teaching developmental math, statistics, and college-level math courses.
Nice-to-haves
- College or high school teaching experience.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Familiarity or experience with internet instruction.
