About the position

The Mathematics Instructor at El Paso Community College is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in mathematics, adhering to the college's philosophy and objectives. This tenure-track position requires in-person work on campus and involves developing curriculum, advising students, and participating in departmental activities to enhance the educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to approved course syllabi and provide students with course requirements and evaluation methods.
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to accommodate diverse educational backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Allow students to assess their own progress and provide opportunities for mastery of course objectives.
  • Develop and revise curriculum and instructional materials as needed.
  • Submit syllabi or addenda to the Division Office by the end of the first week of class.
  • Assist in the selection of textbooks and instructional materials.
  • Post and maintain office hours according to institutional guidelines.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and provide leadership in student activities.
  • Facilitate student evaluations of instruction and submit results to the designated office.
  • Participate in divisional and departmental responsibilities, including proposing programs and projects.
  • Collaborate with other faculty to achieve the goals of the discipline and college.
  • Attend all scheduled discipline and division activities unless conflicts arise with teaching assignments.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of faculty and program staff.
  • Contribute to college governance through active committee service.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Support the community college's mission to serve the community.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics or a Master's degree with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Mathematics.
  • Experience teaching in the discipline of Mathematics.
  • Ability to teach at the community college level.
  • Experience incorporating technology into the classroom.
