About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Matrimonial Paralegal to join our small but dynamic law firm located in Union, NJ. The ideal candidate will work closely with an experienced matrimonial attorney, assisting in various aspects of family law cases. This role requires a foundational understanding of matrimonial law, as well as proficiency in digital systems and case management. While some training will be provided, candidates should have prior experience in matrimonial work, particularly familiarity with the Case Information Statement and other relevant documentation. The position offers flexibility in scheduling, allowing you to choose your own hours from Monday to Friday. We pride ourselves on maintaining a supportive and positive working environment, which is essential for our team’s success. After the initial 90 days, there will be opportunities for limited remote work, providing a balance between in-office collaboration and personal flexibility. Responsibilities

  • Assist the matrimonial attorney with case preparation and management.
  • Draft and file legal documents related to family law cases.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases.
  • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in cases.
  • Prepare Case Information Statements and other necessary forms.
  • Utilize scanning and digital systems for document management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a paralegal in family law, specifically matrimonial law.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and digital documentation.
  • Familiarity with the Case Information Statement and related legal forms.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and legal professionals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with case management software.
