About the position

The ideal candidate will not only be knowledgeable and experienced with carpentry and manufacturing involving wood and metal, but will also be a dynamic teacher. Candidates must be willing to partner with local organizations and industry for student opportunities, collaborate with school and district colleagues, and create strong ties with the community. The candidate is required to have current industry certifications in welding and to be certified for dual credit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive and effective classroom management for students
  • Plan effective and appropriate daily lessons and unit plans incorporating industry as well as school wide initiatives (i.e. reading and writing across the curriculum)
  • Effectively collaborate with district PLC
  • Teach occupational knowledge and skills in the areas of safety, machine processes, metal fabrication, welding, heat treating, cutting, communications, career preparation, and woodworking/fiber technology
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned
  • Follows specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and district
  • Actively participates with Southern Oregon Education Service District and Regional CTE Director
  • Actively partners with Community College(s) to create seamless transitions for students
  • Develop, implement and maintain a system to track and maintain tools and equipment (loss prevention and continued maintenance)
  • Maintain a budget with a positive balance and maintain and turn in all associated records in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain a robust and energetic advisory committee and meet with them no less than once per semester
  • Be willing to serve as a CTSO advisor and attend district sectional, state and national student competitions as an advisor
  • Selects and requisitions required instructional equipment, supplies, and materials
  • Ensures that all classroom, shop, and storage facilities are maintained, secured and safe
  • Pursue continuous professional growth
  • Participates cooperatively in school, area, district-wide, and state activities
  • Adhere to all Oregon Administrative Rules related to licensed educators
  • Adheres to all standards established by Teachers Standards and Practices Commissions for Competent and Ethical Educator
  • Maintain appropriate licenses and training hours as required
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Other duties as assigned
