About the position

The MCS Developer - Senior at COHO Technology Solutions is responsible for designing and developing Java applications while maintaining existing applications. This role involves providing technical guidance and adhering to Agile software development practices. Initially remote, the position will transition to a hybrid model with 1-2 days per week on-site at the US Census Bureau, reporting directly to the onsite Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform systems analysis, design, and development
  • Possess and maintain knowledge of web-based technologies and architecture
  • Design and implement secure code for software applications
  • Perform testing and maintain large software applications
  • Follow Software Configuration Management techniques and practices
  • Perform iterative code development
  • Perform troubleshooting and supporting production applications
  • Assist other developers with technical solutions
  • Evaluate, identify, and present alternatives for software

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Technology or a related field of study
  • Hands-on experience in Web Development (HTML, JavaScript, JQuery), Bootstrap Spring MVC, Hibernate and Oracle Database
  • Strong experience with Java, JDBC, Java Messaging Services, Java mail API, JSP, Servlets
  • Experience with Active X (C++), LDAP, LDIF, XML, XLST Formatting
  • Proficiency in Oracle Database stored procedures (PLSQL and SQL)
  • Experience with Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Database initiated chrons
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Apache Log4j, Grails, Hibernate
  • Experience with Java Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE), EJB3, MVC architecture using Jakarta Struts
  • Experience with standard design patterns and Apache Struts 2
  • Webservices/API development experience & Unix Operating System Proficiency
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust from Census Investigative Services (CIS) prior to commencement of Census Bureau work

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior U.S. Census Bureau and/or federal agency consultant experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with 5-10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Java J2EE, Apache Struts 2 experience, Webservices/API development experience, Unix Operating System Proficiency
