About the position

The VA St. Louis Health Care System (VASTLHCS) is seeking a Board Certified physician leader to take on the role of Chief of Staff. This position is pivotal in providing leadership and organizational representation within the healthcare system. The Chief of Staff is responsible for fostering the development of healthcare professionals through effective counseling, mentoring, and teaching. This role requires the creation of an environment conducive to patient care, educational activities, and administrative planning and evaluation, all grounded in the integration and application of current medical knowledge. The Chief of Staff must also cultivate a culture of continuous quality improvement, ensuring that programs and the effectiveness of care are regularly evaluated and enhanced. In addition to these responsibilities, the Chief of Staff will be tasked with effectively integrating the needs of the affiliation relationship with Saint Louis University and Washington University with the patient care needs at the facility. This includes ensuring the effective supervision of non-resident trainees and residents, thereby maintaining high standards of medical education and training. The Chief of Staff will play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery at VASTLHCS, ensuring that the facility remains at the forefront of medical excellence and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and organizational representation for the VASTLHCS.
  • Promote the development of healthcare professionals through counseling, mentoring, and teaching.
  • Create an environment that supports patient care, education activities, and administrative planning.
  • Evaluate programs and quality of care effectiveness based on continuous quality improvement principles.
  • Integrate the needs of the affiliation relationship with Saint Louis University and Washington University with patient care needs.
  • Supervise non-resident trainees and residents effectively.

Requirements

  • Board Certified physician with a full and unrestricted license from any US State.
  • Experience in leadership roles within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong background in mentoring and training healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve quality of care and programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with interventional cardiac programs or similar specialties.
  • Familiarity with the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).
  • Knowledge of federal healthcare regulations and policies.
