About the position
The MD (Multiple Disabilities) Assistant position is designed to support students with multiple disabilities in an educational setting. This role involves working closely with special education staff to ensure that students receive the necessary assistance to thrive in their learning environment. The assistant will be responsible for providing individualized support and fostering a positive educational experience for students with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with multiple disabilities in daily activities and educational tasks.
- Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to create a supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and document student progress and behavior.
- Provide assistance with communication and social skills development.
- Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Educational Aide Permit.
- Minimum of Associate's Degree or 48 semester hours of college credit, or ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment Test.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with sensitivity to the needs of students.
