About the position

The MD Rebuilds Career Pathway Coach at Howard Community College (HCC) is responsible for guiding students in their academic journeys, providing coaching, academic planning, and advising support. This part-time position focuses on helping students develop and articulate their career and academic goals while ensuring they are informed about college functions, policies, and available resources. The role involves collaboration with various departments and stakeholders to enhance student success and engagement within the MD Rebuilds Program.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for academic advising, planning, and interventions to deliver high-quality experiences to students within the MD Rebuilds Program.
  • Articulate college functions, policies, and procedures to students clearly.
  • Support students in a case management model, providing high-impact experiences and wrap-around services.
  • Employ technology and strategies to advise students across various modalities and locations.
  • Assist students in developing, refining, and articulating career and academic goals.
  • Provide transfer information, particularly regarding the AAT, ensuring students are aware of requirements at their transfer institution.
  • Develop tracking and collaborative data practices to monitor student success within the MD Rebuilds Program.
  • Act as a point of contact for faculty, staff, administration, and external stakeholders to address student needs and concerns.
  • Assist students with navigating institutional academic policies and procedures, including financial, graduation, and academic forms.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation, including case notes and intervention reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized institutional accreditor.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in college advising, student services, or counseling.
  • Ability to meet complex goals and collaborate with various departments on key initiatives.
  • Competency in organizing data and preparing reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with student information systems, CRF, databases, and other technology supporting student success.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and set priorities to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a cooperative team-focused work environment.
  • Commitment to diversity and equity.
