About the position

The MDHHS Office of Faith Engagement is seeking a Marketing/Communications intern for the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters. This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited college program related to Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, English, or a similar field. The primary mission of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is to provide opportunities, services, and programs that promote a healthy, safe, and stable environment for residents to be self-sufficient. The Office of Faith Engagement is committed to ensuring a diverse workforce and a work environment where all employees are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. As a Marketing/Communications intern, you will engage in various responsibilities and projects that will enhance your skills and provide valuable experience in the field. The internship will involve collaborative efforts with the Office of Faith Engagement Director and Executive Secretary, focusing on researching, writing, and editing newsletter articles and social media posts. You will also assist in managing social media content, tracking engagement metrics, and compiling information from regional contacts to report on marketing key performance indicators (KPIs). Additionally, you will coordinate schedules for presentations at ministerial alliance meetings and other key events, design social media graphics, conduct surveys, and manage community calendar requests. This internship is virtual, allowing you to work from home while contributing to meaningful projects that support the mission of MDHHS.

Responsibilities

  • Researching, writing, and editing newsletter articles and social media posts collaboratively with OFE Director and Executive Secretary.
  • Assisting with social media by researching content, drafting postings, sourcing images, and tracking engagement reports.
  • Compiling information and statistics from the regional contact list and reporting those statistics.
  • Assisting with the reporting of marketing KPIs.
  • Coordinating the Director's and Administrative Assistant's schedules for presentations at ministerial alliance meetings and other key events.
  • Designing and laying out social media graphics/images and other materials.
  • Conducting surveys as needed.
  • Managing community calendar requests.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college in Marketing/Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, English, or a related field of study.

Nice-to-haves

  • Marketing and Graphic Design experience preferred.
