About the position

The University of Michigan is seeking an undergraduate student in Mechanical Engineering for a temporary part-time position as a Research Assistant. This role involves assisting faculty on collaborative projects, providing students with hands-on experience in research activities, and the opportunity to learn and apply new skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with experimental procedures and preparation of reports.
• Perform simple calculations or measurements.
• Code and/or record data as required by faculty research.
• Attend weekly meetings with the faculty supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the direct supervisor.

Requirements

• Must be a current Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student at UM-Dearborn.
• Self-motivation and willingness to learn new applications.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good communication skills.
• Good organizational and documentation skills for keeping track of data and multiple analysis steps.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and internet search engines.
