About the position

The Mechanical Engineer (Fuel Oil Systems) position at Preferred Utilities involves designing fuel oil handling skids for emergency generators and commercial boiler systems. The role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project engineering design and implementation of industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Work with project managers in execution of projects.
• Be responsible for complete and accurate project engineering design.
• Apply engineering expertise to equipment design, problem solving, and quality improvement, including project drawings and bill of materials.
• Size and select components for liquid fuels.
• Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models and fabrication drawings.
• Generate fabrication BOMs using ERP systems.
• Assist field service engineers in fuel oil equipment startups.
• Improve existing manufactured products and manufacturing techniques.

Requirements

• Minimum of BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred, but willing to train the right individual.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, sheet-metal, assemblies, and drawings) is preferred.
• Some experience with DraftSight, AutoCAD, or similar for 2D drawings of schematics.
• Design knowledge of fuel oil handling and piping systems is preferred.
• Attention to details.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
• Willing to learn new skills.
• Ability to work efficiently with multiple engineering disciplines.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
