About the position

The Y-12 National Security Complex is currently seeking candidates for summer 2025 internship opportunities in various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering. This internship program is designed to last between 10 to 12 weeks and offers students the chance to engage in meaningful work that supports missions vital to national and global security. Interns will be involved in challenging assignments and projects that will enhance their professional growth, alongside career development workshops aimed at preparing them for future careers in engineering and science fields. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a degree in Engineering or a relevant Physical Science from an ABET accredited program.
  • Completed at least sophomore year in college.
  • Maintained an overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Familiarity with the Human Reliability Program (HRP) and Materials Access Areas (MAA).
