About the position

The Meal Assembly Operations and Quality Manager at Ideal Nutrition is responsible for overseeing the quality and operational aspects of meal assembly. This role serves as a critical link between the kitchen and the broader operations, ensuring that meals meet quality and portion standards while managing a team and maintaining safety protocols. The manager will also be involved in training staff, conducting quality assurance audits, and implementing operational improvements to enhance the overall quality control process.

Responsibilities

  • Build & establish a strong team with a leadership pipeline; coach and develop talent within each functional area of your department.
  • Ensure that plated meals meet the company's quality and portion standards.
  • Train and supervise plating staff ensuring safety protocols and quality standards are achieved.
  • Monitor the quality of all aspects of the product lines and conduct routine quality assurance audits.
  • Manage and ensure successful operation of modified atmosphere packaging equipment including making computer and mechanical adjustments.
  • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting on the equipment and respond accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging designs meet all functional, aesthetic, cost and regulatory requirements.
  • Create safety and training procedures around operating all equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain inventory of plating equipment and supplies.
  • Enforce safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Design systems and operational changes to reduce the risk of foreign materials.
  • Help relay new company policies to the Departments and reinforce adherence to all company policies.
  • Contribute to the development of training material and process improvements for quality control.
  • Pioneer new systems, standard operating procedures, and departmental policies to improve the quality control process.
  • Address any performance or behavior issues promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor staff performance and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff on proper plating techniques, portion control, and hygiene standards.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with the Kitchen Manager and other relevant departments.
  • Participate in regular kitchen meetings to discuss challenges, improvements, and updates.
  • Ensure that staff are informed about menu changes, special requests, and customer feedback.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and enforce the dress code among staff.
  • Familiarize yourself with all ingredients listed on the menu cards.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of production experience; preferably in food service or food production with a minimum of 3 years in a management role.
  • Quality Assurance experience.
  • AA Degree.
  • Must maintain personal hygiene in accordance with Ideal Nutrition standards.
  • Ability to think strategically and adjust communication style to different audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of Food Manufacturing, Food Safety & Quality, and Fulfillment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively motivate, develop and manage a large team.
  • Demonstrated success at delivering new product initiatives.
  • Strong organization skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to make simple math calculations.
  • Strong computer skills: Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Culinary experience (2 years preferred).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
