About The Position

As a Measurement Scientist at Amplify Education, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of K-12 education through the development of innovative measurement models and frameworks. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with domain experts to create methods for modeling student achievement and growth data within Amplify's curriculum programs. This involves participating in the development of complex assessment tasks and implementing measurement models in software. You will also prototype and build measurement models based on thorough data analysis, identifying opportunities to employ new methodologies in measurement and curriculum development, and sharing your findings with relevant partners. In this role, you will be tasked with writing comprehensive reports for a wide-ranging audience and delivering presentations that articulate the technical characteristics and complexities of assessments to both specialists and general audiences. You will deploy leading-edge measurement and statistical techniques to support effective and differentiated instruction, while also identifying and developing new psychometric data models and methodologies for diagnosing student needs and measuring growth. Your expertise will be crucial in advising on the design of research projects, including classical and IRT item analyses, equating studies, and validity and efficacy studies. As a technical leader, you will provide guidance in deploying robust psychometric data models and analytics techniques as new requirements and architectures evolve. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with user experience and user interface designers, as well as software engineers, to construct user-facing reports in educational products. You will apply your knowledge of statistics and psychometrics, including classical test theory, item response theory, structural equation modeling, and mixed-effects modeling, while also leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance measurement in education. Your role will also involve performing educational data mining and utilizing scientific programming environments such as R, Python, Stata, and MATLAB scripting, along with the mathematical foundations of modern statistical and machine learning methods.
