About the position

The Meat Clerk at WinCo Foods plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and presentation of meat products while providing exceptional customer service. This part-time position involves wrapping, weighing, and pricing meat, as well as maintaining cleanliness in the department. The Meat Clerk is expected to engage with customers, answer their questions, and promote products effectively, all while adhering to safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure meat is wrapped, weighed, and priced properly.
  • Operate wrapping machine.
  • Provide customer service and ensure product quality and selection.
  • Maintain cleanliness of department and equipment.
  • Consistently provide friendly, courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service.
  • Answer questions from customers and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Weigh, tray, grind, wrap, and price poultry and meat.
  • Prevent sale of spoiled and outdated product by following laws and company policy.
  • Ensure proper merchandising of product and eye-appeal of the department.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment according to company policy.
  • Stock and rotate product, and consolidate racks as needed.
  • Clean mirrors and glass surfaces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to consistently provide friendly, courteous service to customers.
  • Work varied hours primarily between 5:00 am to 11:00 pm, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain composure in dealing with customers and coworkers.
  • Conduct visual inspections and read production guides and product labels.
  • Properly use cleaning chemicals according to guidelines.
  • Handle food products per State and County laws and WinCo standards.
  • Read and follow written work assignments and instructions.
  • Communicate effectively on the sales floor.
  • Reach, lift, and maneuver objects up to 25 lbs frequently and 30-60 lbs occasionally.
  • Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Perform repetitious arm movements for wrapping and processing products.
  • Stand for long periods and work in a refrigerated area (32 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Learn product variability, perishability, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Perform basic math and compute weights and measures.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
