About The Position

The Service Meat Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in the Meat and Seafood Department. This role involves wrapping, trimming, stocking cases, and receiving merchandise while ensuring a clean and organized work environment. The clerk is expected to engage with customers, assist them in finding products, and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent experience.
• Food safety training.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to carry out detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
• Basic math skills for addition and subtraction.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading/unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service, including taking customer orders.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Wraps, weighs, and labels products, ensuring freshness and proper stock rotation.
• Prepares and organizes seafood items for display and maintains cleanliness in the work area.
• Reports out-of-stock products to appropriate personnel and removes trash in a timely manner.
• Adheres to company policies and guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
