About the position

The Meat Manager at Restaurant Depot plays a crucial role in ensuring that all meat products are available for sale and maintained according to the highest freshness standards. This position is full-time and requires working 8-10 hour shifts, with overtime as needed. The Meat Manager will work closely with the Assistant Branch Manager and is responsible for adhering to HACCP guidelines and company policies. The primary mission of Restaurant Depot is to provide independent restaurants, caterers, and not-for-profits with the right products at competitive prices, ensuring customer satisfaction and a pleasant shopping environment. In this role, the Meat Manager will demonstrate teamwork and provide friendly, efficient customer service. They will effectively communicate with customers, respond to inquiries, and operate various equipment safely and in compliance with OSHA guidelines. The Meat Manager will also be responsible for product presentation, rotation, labeling, and replenishment, ensuring that inventory levels are monitored through frequent cycle counts. Maintaining cleanliness standards and assisting with hiring and scheduling needs are also key responsibilities of this position. The Meat Manager will utilize their selling skills to secure additional sales and employ suggestive selling techniques to enhance product sales. They will monitor product quality, communicate any issues related to code dating, and work to minimize losses. This position requires a proactive approach to planning work duties and assisting team members as needed, all while adhering to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all available meat products are out for sale and maintained according to freshness policies.
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service in all interactions.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Operate equipment such as box cutters, knives, scales, and forklifts according to company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Follow product handling procedures in accordance with company and HACCP policies.
  • Maintain product presentation, rotation, labeling, and backstock organization.
  • Monitor inventory levels through frequent cycle counts to ensure in-stock position.
  • Demonstrate a high level of operational execution and product knowledge.
  • Utilize selling skills to secure additional sales and employ suggestive selling techniques.
  • Communicate code dating issues and monitor product quality to reduce shrink.
  • Plan work duties appropriately during scheduled shifts to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards and assist in cleaning as needed.
  • Assist senior managers with interviewing, hiring, and scheduling needs.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines regarding food safety and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to develop and train team members and build relationships.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Effective management of warehouse operations.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to listen attentively.
  • Ability to operate all necessary equipment for the job.
  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment is preferred.
  • Basic functions on a handheld scanner, desktop computer, and calculator.
