About the position

The Meat Manager at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Meat Department, ensuring high-quality meat products and excellent customer service. This role involves hands-on butchering, staff management, inventory control, and compliance with safety standards. The Meat Manager will also engage in training and scheduling of meat associates while executing merchandising plans to enhance department performance.

Responsibilities

• Minimize out-of-stock and overstock to ensure fresh merchandise.
• Schedule meat associates, engage in specialized skills training, and delegate work to utilize talents and abilities.
• Execute localized merchandising plans and follow company plans to ensure the meat department's success.
• Receive and unload incoming shipments and price products to ensure quality, protection, and rotation.
• Control department expenses by enhancing operations, meeting budgeted goals, and controlling shrinkage and pilferage.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandated by state, federal, and OSHA regulations.
• Ensure associates run equipment safely and comply with state, local, and government weight, measures, and labeling.
• Welcome and receive orders from customers and determine areas for improvement in the Meat Department.
• Manage staff, scheduling, inventory, orders, butchers, meat clerks, and all other operations within the Meat Department.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience working as a butcher, with 3 years in a management role.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead a team.
• Proven experience working in a high-volume meat department or meat store managing staff.
