About the position

The Meat Team Leader at Giant Eagle is responsible for managing the Meat Team, ensuring the department operates efficiently and effectively. This role involves coaching team members, promoting a culture of respect and inclusion, and achieving sales and profit goals while maintaining safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Interview, select, and train Team Members.
• Direct the work of Team Members.
• Appraise Team Members' productivity and efficiency for promotions or status changes.
• Handle Team Member issues, including complaints.
• Discipline Team Members as necessary.
• Plan and assign work among Team Members.
• Ensure the safety and security of Team Members and the store.
• Manage the budget for the department or location.
• Manage inventory for the department or location.
• Monitor and implement compliance measures.
• Evaluate training provided to reduce turnover and promote efficiency.
• Provide motivational leadership and set an exemplary example.
• Identify strengths and opportunities within the team.
• Develop future leaders and nurture an inclusive environment.
• Maintain safety as a top priority.
• Inspire the team and guests with a passion for food.
• Set and reach aggressive sales and profit goals.
• Communicate effectively with the merchandising team.
• Make innovative plans to improve business performance.
• Review and analyze financial and historical reports for performance improvement.

Requirements

• Retail work experience or Store Leader recommendation.
• Meat Cutting experience.
• Retail leadership or supervisory experience.
• Successful performance as a Peer Trainer or similar role.
• Demonstrated product knowledge relevant to the department.
• Satisfactory performance and discipline record.
• High school diploma or equivalent certification in Meat Cutting, Meat Processing, or Meat Science.
