Mechanic Apprentice

About the position

The Mechanic Apprentice is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and routine repairs on mobile, heavy, and stationary equipment while adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards. This role requires physical activity and aims to ensure operational excellence and safety in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Lubricate, inspect, and perform preventive maintenance tasks on heavy equipment and stationary shredder mill machinery.
• Complete required documentation associated with the installation, replacement, or changing of machine parts and attachments.
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
• Operate a fueling truck when fueling equipment as needed.
• Assist with routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Report all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions for maintenance or repair to the proper supervisor.

Requirements

• Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Basic ability to speak and understand English.
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned.
• Experience in a scrap yard preferred.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance desired.

Benefits

• Pay rate range $22.41/hr - $26.89/hr
