About the position

The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) is seeking experienced mechanics for the Mechanic I-III positions, which are crucial for the operations and maintenance of mechanical equipment related to water management and environmental stewardship. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about enhancing the quality of life in the Inland Empire region through the effective management of recycled water, wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal needs. The agency is committed to producing high-quality renewable products, such as recycled water and compost, and values ethical, transparent, and environmentally sustainable practices in all its operations. As a Mechanic I, you will work under direct supervision, assisting higher-level maintenance staff with a variety of facility, plant, machinery, and equipment maintenance and repair tasks. For those at the Mechanic II and III levels, the responsibilities expand to include skilled technical duties in the construction, installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of complex mechanical systems and machinery. This includes working on the production, treatment, storage, transmission, and distribution of water and wastewater, as well as composting facilities. Mechanics at these levels will also be involved in welding, machine shop duties, and may provide technical direction to lower-level mechanics. The IEUA offers a supportive work environment that promotes a healthy work-life balance, including a 4-day work week and remote hybrid work options for certain positions. The agency is dedicated to the professional development of its employees, providing education reimbursement, wellness stipends, and a pension plan through CalPERS.
