About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in a high-paced production stamping environment. This role focuses on maintaining production quality through effective maintenance practices and troubleshooting mechanical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance on mechanical presses, press line related equipment, conveyor systems, overhead cranes, and various production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs preventative tasks associated with heavy industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Fabrics repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Proficient in rigging/lifting fundamentals required for large equipment replacements.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in maintaining mechanical presses and production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as diagrams and operations manuals.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations in a manufacturing setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with conveyor systems and overhead cranes.
  • Familiarity with rigging and lifting fundamentals.
  • Ability to work in multiple functional areas and adapt to changing priorities.
